About The Coffee
Java Grade 1 – Robusta from East Java Ijen
This is a high-quality Indonesian Robusta coffee, grown at the base of the Ijen volcano in East Java. Located in the Pacific Ring of Fire—one of the most active volcanic regions in the world—the coffee plants thrive in soil enriched with volcanic minerals. This unique environment imparts a rich and complex flavor, a signature characteristic of many Indonesian coffee varieties.
The coffee is harvested between April and August by local farmers using traditional methods. It is naturally processed, resulting in a Robusta with a strong body, mild acidity, and bold flavors of dark chocolate, roasted nuts, and hints of spice.
Whether you’re a coffee enthusiast or looking for a premium base for blends, this coffee delivers an unforgettable taste that embodies the volcanic energy of its origins.

The Untold Story of Indonesian Coffee
Indonesia’s coffee story began centuries ago, deep in the fertile volcanic soils of its many islands. In the late 1600s, Dutch traders introduced coffee plants to the archipelago, planting the first trees on Java. What started as a colonial enterprise soon spread across the islands, from Sumatra to Sulawesi, giving birth to some of the world’s most unique coffee varieties.

For generations, smallholder farmers tended to their crops using traditional methods, passing down knowledge through the centuries. Each island developed its own distinct flavors—Sumatra’s earthy and full-bodied profiles, Java’s smooth and chocolaty notes, and Sulawesi’s bright, fruity acidity. These coffees became prized exports, with "Java" even becoming synonymous with coffee itself.
However, as global coffee markets evolved, Indonesian coffee faced challenges. Large-scale plantations dominated production, and many of the country’s finest micro-lots were overlooked by the specialty market. But change was brewing. A new generation of farmers, traders, and coffee enthusiasts began reviving Indonesia’s coffee heritage, focusing on quality, sustainability, and direct trade.

Today, Indonesia is reclaiming its place in the world of specialty coffee. Innovative processing techniques, improved traceability, and ethical sourcing are bringing Indonesian coffee back into the spotlight. From the wild Luwak coffee of Bali to the wet-hulled beans of Sumatra, Indonesia’s coffee culture is as rich and diverse as its landscapes.
Traditional Craftsmanship
In Indonesia, coffee is still harvested by hand using traditional techniques. Farmers carefully select only the ripest cherries and sun-dry them. Any defective or irregular beans are removed to maintain consistent quality. This hands-on process ensures that only the best beans make it to your cup.
The Natural processing
This coffee is processed using the Natural Method. After being picked, the ripe cherries are dried in the sun without removing the pulp. This slow-drying process preserves the beans’ natural sweetness and enhances their rich aroma with fruity notes. Once dried, the beans are separated from the pulp and prepared for export. This method intensifies the coffee’s bold flavor and smooth acidity, making it ideal for both everyday drinking and specialty blends.

Our Coffee expert
Hi, my name is Yasin, also known as Jungle Boy. I am an adventurer at heart.
Whether it’s surviving alone in the jungle for seven days or embarking on multi-day volcano expeditions—I’m a professional survivor and share my adventures on my Youtube channel
I’m half-German and grew up in Indonesia, surrounded by coffee from a young age. My Indonesian father started our coffee business in 2009 as a self-taught roaster. He began with traditional blends and gradually developed into an experienced specialty coffee roaster. I’m thrilled to be part of his journey and to share our love for coffee with the world.
My father has a deep passion for specialty coffee. He drinks several cups a day and loves discussing the flavors, aromas, and characteristics of different varieties. While I appreciate Arabica’s popularity among coffee lovers, my heart belongs to Robusta.
I’ll admit—I’m hooked on caffeine! It’s not always ideal (I’ve had my share of caffeine overloads), but I rely on it to power through my demanding daily routine. Robusta’s high caffeine content gives me just the boost I need to stay productive.
It’s common for my father to sit back and enjoy his Arabica while I’m already buzzing around after my first cup of Robusta. I often joke with him: “Robusta is King! Robusta is King!”
Despite our differing tastes, coffee remains a unifying force in our lives. It’s more than just a beverage—it connects people from all walks of life and strengthens bonds.
Coffee is also a productivity powerhouse. It sharpens focus, fuels determination, and helps you push through even the toughest days. Whether you’re tackling intense work, studying, or pushing your limits, this Robusta blend is your ultimate energy boost.
